Elimination Round-Top 9 down to Top 8 on 4/2/08

Awesome news!

Dolly Parton is singing something from her new album “Backwoods Barbie” on the show tonight. I imagine it is somehow dedicated to all the Season 7 Barbies (Alaina, Kady, Amy, Brooke, Syesha and Kristy Lee) Maybe it’s an omen that Kristy Lee may finally be crouching all the way home with her French Pedicure to go buy back the horse she sold to finance her trip to Philly to audition.  Maybe not.

I still think that the elimination round should only last 15 minutes tops, so we have at least 45 minutes of manufactured drama and advertising and Fox cross-promotion…..yee ha.

Group performance of 9 to 5 was rough-of note, Jason is quite a goober during these group things. Nice to see Chikezie in the audience-guess he hasn’t found a job yet.

Recap of this week’s performances-rather than making the weekly loser re-sing his losing performance, let’s just view the recap clip….and the exit video….

Caller Q&A-mostly fluff, but I did enjoy the call from the 52 year old woman (judging by Ryan’s response to FIFTY TWO, that is the oldest person he has ever heard of in his pathetic life) who asked Simon why he felt the need to apologize for giving criticism…his response was that the caller was absolutely right and he will never apologize to any one ever again. I love Simon.

Guest performance by the Clark Brothers band was somewhat interesting-I guess they won the America’s Next Great Band or whatever they called that show-the vocals were awful but the instrumental performances were amazing.

Ford video not even worth mentioning-as awful as usual

David Cook-at age 25, was sent to the hospital with palpitations on Tuesday night after he performed. He has high blood pressure.  I am hopeful that he uses his celebrity to promote awareness that hypertension is not just an "old folks" concern....he might actually help someone if he's willing to speak out.  Based on his "it was blown all out of proportion" I think he'd prefer to hide it, unfortunately.

The highlight of the hour HAD to be Dolly’s bizarre performance of her bizarre song “Jesus and Gravity”.  She’s allegedly very talented, but you’d never know it based on this song or this performance-she just chanted the words, never really sang, and I could just never get past the outfit….silvery sparkly Capri pants and a CAPE.  She is unique, will give her that.  I now have brand new inspiration for my Halloween costume this year…I may not be Batman after all……

Bottom 3

(Mandatory-boo hoo hoo how will I live if I’m sent home…I cant be expected to work for a living now that I’m a STAR)

Ramiele-as expected

Kristy Lee-as expected (she even came prepared with her sign for her bottom 3 stool)

BROOKE-HOORAY, someone else thinks she needs to SHUT UP….but sadly, Brooke is safe and still managed to get in a number of terribly sad faces for the cameras and a 3 minute explanation  about Idol Gives back and Dolly being so inspirational that she was moved to tears..yak yak yak.  I have NO more patience with this girl, even if she is the biggest talent EVER (and she is not).  Go home and bore your husband to tears. She may be a nanny only because no one else other than helpless young children can stand to listen to her endless yammering.

No big shocker…Ramiele goes home.  Sadly, the Season 7 American Idol will not be a Filipino again this year.  She gave it a good shot, though.  I hope they have lip gloss in her hometown now that she’s an addict.

It takes a lot of money to make Dolly Parton look so "CHEAP".

After her performance, I am convinced more than ever that she missed her calling, and should really be licensing her name and image to those cheap whore houses over in Las Vegas. "Dolly's Bunny Ranch" has a nice ring to it.

As for Ramilele. BWAAAAHAAAHAAAHAAA! I laughed so hard when that little tramp got the axe.

Great job Gretta , as usual.. I just couldn't see Ramiele's first trip to the bottom three to be her only trip. I was surprised the charter member of the bottom three club(Kristy) didn't avoid it, especially after Kountry Nite.. Finding out that her and Brooke are roomies makes me wonder if the tactic to be annoyingly interactive with the judges was some late night pajama party scheme... They both need to follow David Cook's lead, shut up, politely nod and get off the stage...
